What this job involves:

The building porter is responsible for assisting the FM Operation delivering services to their Client, whilst ensuring the building is compliant and well maintained. Working within the Facilities Team, responding to requests whilst carrying out their duties efficiently and effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To monitor and complete helpdesk generated tasks and update facilities of their progress.
  • To carry out daily planned tasks and PPM's assigned to the buildings.
  • To work ensuring all equipment and store rooms are kept clean, well maintained and are in a safe working order.
  • Carry out daily internal and external checks of the building/premises, proactively identifying & remediating any issues.
  • To move furniture and arrange area ready for events & meetings around the site.
  • To carry out various porterage tasks (this can include moving heavy items).
  • Carry out minor handyman jobs.
  • Ensure the site remains tidy.
  • To complete room set ups as required.
  • To report any maintenance defects to the helpdesk.
  • To ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene is maintained. Pay particular attention to general appearance.
  • Support with any other ad-hoc tasks as required, eg: salt gritting etc.

EHS

  • Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.
  • Report Good catches/Near Misses.
  • To wear protective clothing (PPE) as issued.

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

Requirements

  • Experience in facilities, property management or related field.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to interact with a wide range of client staff and demands.
  • PC literacy and proven ability to manage daily activities using various systems.
  • To deal with any complaints that fall within job holder's duties and report these immediately to the Facilities manager.
  • To perform miscellaneous duties which are within the job holder's capability according to the needs of the business or as instructed by the FM Team.

Additional Duties And Responsibilities

  • Out of hours and weekend working may be required from time to time as business needs dictate.

Skills

  • A can do, positive outlook with basic computer skills. Be physically fit and able to regularly lift weight in excess of 20kg.
  • Must be extremely organised and able to prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Confident personality, able to deal with diverse population and situations.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Able to work on their own initiative.
  • Good verbal communication skills. Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills.

Experience

  • Competent working in a commercial, office environment.
  • Practical experience and a working knowledge of building maintenance.
