Job summary

Sodexo in Manchester is seeking a Hospital Porter to support daily hospital operations, moving patients, equipment and medical supplies across the site. You’ll help reduce stress for patients, staff, and visitors through professional and friendly service.

The role requires physical stamina, health and safety awareness in a hospital setting, and a team-focused attitude. 37 hours per week, shifts between 05:30 and 20:00, with comprehensive benefits and 27 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients, visitors, and staff to the correct hospital locations.
• Handle waste collection and recycling while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Safely transport patients between wards using appropriate equipment and care.
• Deliver specimens, samples, and blood products securely across departments.
• Support with respectful transfer of deceased patients.
• Provide additional porter services such as mail delivery, pharmacy runs, moving furniture, and transporting records or stock.

Job Introduction

As a Porter at Sodexo in Wythenshawe Hospital, you'll be an essential part of the hospital's daily operations – safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medical supplies throughout the site. With professionalism and a friendly approach, you'll help reduce the stress of hospital visits for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
