Job summary

Sodexo Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Porter at Hereford County Hospital to assist daily hospital operations, transporting patients, equipment and supplies with care and professionalism.

You will help reduce stress for patients and staff while ensuring safety and quality standards are followed. The role includes varied porter tasks, with training provided and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Physical stamina to walk or stand for extended periods.
• Awareness of health and safety practices in a hospital setting.
• Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks.
• Strong team ethic with the ability to work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients, visitors, and staff to the correct hospital locations.
• Handle waste collection and recycling while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Safely transport patients between wards using appropriate equipment and care.
• Deliver specimens, samples, and blood products securely across departments.
• Support with respectful transfer of deceased patients.
• Provide additional porter services such as mail delivery, pharmacy runs, moving furniture, and transporting records or stock.

Job Introduction
