Overview
We are currently recruiting for a full‑time Porter. This hands‑on position is responsible for, but not limited to, the setup and pack‑down of rooms in coordination with the bookings team, locker management, and escorting contractors and subcontractors around site and cleaning and clearing of external areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup and pack‑down of meeting rooms and event spaces in line with booking schedules, working closely with the room bookings team to ensure all arrangements are timely, accurate, and well‑maintained.
- Managing lockers by handling requests to set or reset combination locks.
- Escorting contractors and subcontractors around the site while ensuring all visitors adhere to safety and security protocols.
- Conducting regular on‑site walk rounds to identify hazards, challenges, or issues related to the building, furniture, or fabric and reporting findings promptly to the line manager/helpdesk.
- Collaboration with regional supply chain partners to support site operations and resolve issues efficiently.
- Cleaning and maintaining external areas such as entrances, pathways, and outdoor communal spaces.
- Providing ad‑hoc support across the site when needed and responding flexibly to operational needs and work orders.
- Handling customer queries with a solution‑focused approach, remaining professional, patient and courteous both face‑to‑face and over the phone, and de‑escalating situations as appropriate.
The role will report to the Soft Services Manager and is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied and active workday, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and thrives in a collaborative, service‑focused environment.
Personnel Specification
- Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate at least 1 years' experience within in a Cleaning Supervisory and working in external environments in all weathers.
- A proven track record in a customer experience, multi skilled focused environment.
- They will be responsible for themselves and others to ensure we maintain a safe and compliant working environment in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments.
Skills & Experience Required
- The role requires previous experience in a facilities, hospitality, or customer service position, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and possess a basic understanding of health and safety and compliance procedures.
- The position also demands someone who is physically fit and capable of handling manual tasks, as well as flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Desirable attributes for the role include experience in event or room setup coordination, as well as familiarity with booking systems or facilities management software.
- Possessing First Aid or Manual Handling certification is also advantageous, though not essential.
