Job summary

Konecranes is seeking a Port Service Engineer based in Clerkenwell, Greater London, to service, maintain and repair lifting equipment across ports and terminals. The role requires electrical qualification, willingness to travel, and experience with drives and PLCs in industrial settings.

The candidate will be involved in installation, commissioning and fault-finding on harbour cranes, straddle carriers and related automation solutions, with opportunities to work overseas periodically.

Qualifications

  • Electrically qualified with understanding of mechanics and hydraulics.
  • Experience with Siemens S7 preferable.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Organised and self-motivated.
  • Computer proficiency including basic networking and diagnostics.
  • Familiar with PUWER and LOLER.
  • UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work at height.
  • Willing to spend up to two weeks away from home.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical installation, commissioning, inspection and testing of Port Solution equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical equipment, drives and PLCs in an industrial setting.
  • Consult with customers on repair and safety issues.
  • Prepare accurate problem reports and inspection documentation.
  • Carry out service and repair of harbour cranes and straddle carriers.

Job Description

Port Services at Konecranes focuses on the service, maintenance and repair of lifting equipment and automation solutions within ports, harbours and terminals - equipment includes mobile harbour cranes, straddle carriers and container handling equipment to name but a few. We are recruiting a Port Service Engineer to carry out the maintenance and repair of this equipment. All our customers are located in coastal areas, so being willing to travel is a key requirement for this role as well as being electrically-qualified.

We are looking for candidates who are ideally based in the north of the UK, preferably in the northeast - Newcastle, Gateshead, Middlesbrough or the Humber area. From time to time, this role can also offer the opportunity to work overseas, but this is not a mandatory requirement.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Electrical installation, commissioning, inspection, and testing including service and repair of Port Solution products, such as harbour cranes and straddle carriers
  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, primarily in Electrical equipment, Drive technologies and PLCs in an industrial environment
  • Consulting with customers on repair and safety related issues
  • Accurate and descriptive problem reporting
  • Completion of inspection and examination documentation as appropriate

Qualifications

What we are looking for in you:

  • Electrically qualified with a basic understanding of mechanics and hydraulics
  • Experience of Siemens S7 preferable
  • Good attention to detail
  • Be organised and self-motivated person
  • Computer proficient including basic networking and component diagnostics
  • Familiar with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and LOLER
  • UK drivers licence
  • Ability to work at height
  • Able to spend periods of time away from home (up to two weeks at a time)
