Job summary

Konecranes is seeking a Port Service Engineer to perform maintenance and repair of harbour cranes, straddle carriers, and other port handling equipment. The role requires electrical qualification and the ability to travel across coastal UK regions, with occasional overseas work depending on projects.

The successful candidate will carry out installations, inspections and diagnostic work, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while coordinating with customers on repairs and safety issues.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualification with basic mechanics/hydraulics understanding.
• Siemens S7 experience preferred.
• Organised, self-motivated and computer-proficient.
• Familiar with PUWER and LOLER; UK driving licence.
• Able to work at height and travel/stay away from home for periods.

Responsibilities

• Electrical installation, commissioning, inspection and testing of Port Solution equipment.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical equipment, drive technologies and PLCs in an industrial setting.
• Consult with customers on repair and safety-related issues; report issues clearly.
• Complete inspection and examination documentation as appropriate.

Job Description

Port Services at Konecranes focuses on the service, maintenance and repair of lifting equipment and automation solutions within ports,harboursand terminals - equipmentincludesmobile harbour cranes, straddlecarriersandcontainer handling equipment to name but a few.

We are recruiting a Port Service Engineer to carry out the maintenance and repair of this equipment.

Allour customersare located incoastal areas, so being willing to travel is a key requirement for this role as well as beingelectrically-qualified. We are looking for candidates who are ideally based in the north of the UK, preferably in the northeast - Newcastle, Gateshead,Middlesbroughor the Humber area.

From time to time, this role can also offer the opportunity to work overseas, but this is not a mandatory requirement.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Electrical installation, commissioning, inspection, and testing including service and repair of Port Solution products, such as harbour cranes and straddle carriers
• Trouble- shooting equipment malfunctions, primarily in Electrical equipment, DrivetechnologiesandPLCsin an industrial environment.
• Consulting with customers on repair and safety related issues
• Accurate and descriptive problem reporting
• Completion of inspection and examination documentation as appropriate

Qualifications

• Electricallyqualifiedwith a basic understanding ofmechanics andhydraulics
• Experience of Siemens S7preferable
• Be organised and self-motivated person.
• Computer proficient including basic networking andcomponentdiagnostics.
• Familiar with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and LOLER
• UK driver's licence
• Ability to work at height
• Able to spend periods of time away from home(up to two weeks at a time)
