Job summary

Associated British Ports is seeking a port operative to ensure operations meet customer requirements while adhering to safety standards, KPI targets, and environmental and quality controls. The role focuses on efficient vessel handling, cargo storage, and continuous improvement of operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in any training to improve skills and efficiency.
• Operate Plant and Equipment during vessel loading/unloading and cargo storage.
• Follow Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Toolbox Talks.
• Ensure targets and operations remain continuous around safe/handover of shifts.
• Clean equipment and assist in other port duties, including physically demanding tasks and working at height.

We are looking for a port operative to join our team to ensure ABP’s direct operations and agreed customer requirements are met, working in line with; acceptable behavioural safety standards, KPI Targets, environmental compliance, and quality standards. Optimising performance and continually improving the operation.

Accountabilities

• Participate in any training deemed necessary to improve individual skills and knowledge and efficiency of the company.
• Subject to suitable training operate Plant and Equipment (including Pre-Start checks), during vessel loading /discharging and cargo storage operations.
• To carry out the job role in accordance with Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and to actively participate in Toolbox Talks.
• Where relevant, understand and ensure targets are met ensuring that targets and operations remain continuous around safe and timely handover of shifts.
• Cleaning of equipment and site as required and assisting in various other port duties (some of which may be of a physical nature and may include working at height).

The shift pattern will consist of 5 on 4 off, 5 on 5 off, 4 on 5 off.
