What is the role of a Port Operative?

Stafforce port operatives support the UK's supply chain from discharge to distribution. No two days are the same in shipping, and a port operative may perform various roles, including:

• Plant driving, including Forklift Trucks, Payloaders, Shovels, Tugs, and Mobile Harbour Cranes
• Weighbridge or Gatehouse duties
• Stock counts
• Traffic Marshall and Vehicle Banksman
• Full UK driving license
• Valid or expired Counterbalance Forklift Truck license
• HGV license
• Valid or expired Payloader/Shovel license
• Experience in similar roles such as port operative, stevedore, CSCS labourer, plant driver, forklift driver, shovel driver, vehicle banksman, slinger banksman, crane driver, quarry operative, warehouse operative, or weighbridge operator is highly desirable
• Previous experience working with commodities such as steel, 1t bags, or timber
• Experience operating radios
