Job summary

P&O Ferries is seeking a Port Operative at Cairnryan to support vessel turnarounds, cargo operations, traffic management and terminal maintenance. You will help ensure safe loading/discharging, maintain schedules and deliver high-quality service to customers.

The role requires working in a multi-skilled team, following health and safety regulations, and contributing to environmental protection and incident reporting. Training will be provided for port operations.

Responsibilities

• Mooring and unmooring vessels safely and efficiently.
• Load and discharge vessels per procedures while maximizing ship fill and avoiding damage.
• Operate approved vehicles and equipment (terminal tractors, tugs, forklifts).
• Support vessel turnaround activities to meet schedules.
• Manage movement of freight units and cargo within the terminal.
• Marshal traffic through the port in a safe, professional manner.
• Maintain terminal space, including secure parking of high-security loads.
• Complete daily vehicle/equipment inspections and report defects.
