Job summary

Bidvest Noonan is seeking a Maritime Security Officer for Stena Line Birkenhead Port to protect passengers, crew, vessels, and port infrastructure. You will operate under the ISPS Code, company policies, and statutory requirements, delivering professional screening and access control throughout the port.

The role covers passenger and baggage screening, vehicle checks, patrols, incident response, and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Passenger Screening— conduct respectful security searches of passengers, including outer clothing checks.
• Baggage & property Screening— operate X-ray screening and perform manual searches of bags and personal items.
• Vehicle Security Checks— carry out interior and exterior inspections prior to boarding.
• Access Control— monitor restricted areas, verify identification, ensure only authorised persons access secure zones.
• Patrols & Surveillance— maintain a visible security presence and monitor CCTV.
• Incident Response— identify suspicious behaviour or items and escalate as required.
• Documentation & Reporting— complete logs, search records, and incident reports.
• Customer Interaction— provide clear, polite communication and guidance during screening.
