Job summary

Belfast Harbour Commissioners is seeking an HSE Executive to support the Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance team across port operations. The role blends technical and administrative safety work, including risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and emergency planning.

The post is 33.75 hours per week and requires NEBOSH General Certificate. The successful candidate will work closely with operational departments, maintaining high safety standards across a busy port environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a third level qualification in engineering or logistics.
• NEBOSH General Certificate in health and safety.
• Experience of managing internal stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

• Support departments to create, complete, review and communicate task risk assessments and standard operating procedures, including co-ordinating their updates
• Support internal and external audit processes and carry out internal audits in line with the audit plan
• Undertake or support external resource to complete specialist risk assessments
• Analyse data to inform decisions and system improvements, and report on trends from incidents and observations
• Support accident and incident investigation and the IRB process
• Support the exercising and testing function and the development of emergency and business continuity plans
• Organise and prepare data and presentations for internal and external stakeholder meetings, maintaining minutes
• Attend Health & Safety Focus Group meetings and co-ordinate Operational Safety Action Group meetings
• Support the Safety Champions
• Liaise operationally on the port waste contract
• Assist with port employee inductions
• Provide general administrative support and other duties as required
