Job Description:

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organisation for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and critical national infrastructure. We seek skilled and committed professionals to join our team.

Our role in protecting national security is unique, involving 24/7 armed response, patrolling nuclear sites, facilities, and materials, as well as working with local police forces. We are part of the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed across the country in response to terrorist threats.

New officers will undergo a condensed 4-week training programme, with options for local training courses.

As police officers, we uphold high standards, values, and professionalism, guided by the CNC Code of Ethics, which all officers are responsible for following.

Applicants must have a full manual driving licence, be a substantive Police Sergeant, and a qualified Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) / Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) trained with their current force.

Transferees typically retain their previous salary and entitlements, including annual leave, which increases with years of service.

Standard officer benefits include:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service length
  • Generous pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Free parking and gym facilities at some sites
  • Family-friendly policies, including paid parental leave
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounts through the Blue Light Card scheme

We value diversity and inclusion, striving to create an environment where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work.
