Metropolitan Police in London is seeking a Vehicle Technician at Ponton Road Workshop to maintain and repair the police vehicle fleet, ensuring high availability and safety.

You will work a Monday-Friday pattern from 07:00-15:00 or 08:00-16:00, with 36 hours per week, and can transfer knowledge to apprentices while following workshop standards.

This role is permanent with progression opportunities within Fleet Services, focused on quality, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance and repair (or equivalent) is desirable.
• DVSA Nominated Tester (desirable).

Responsabilités

• Vehicle maintenance: maintain fleet within workshop by providing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Warranty work: follow end-to-end process for manufacturer warranties.
• Inspection and diagnosis: road test and diagnose electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Data/Information: record measurements and compile technical reports; interpret wiring diagrams.
• Development/training: keep up to date with standards and legislation; share knowledge with apprentices.
• MPS knowledge: understand Met activity and its impact on local delivery.
