Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is seeking a caring Support Assistant to work in a specialist school supporting pupils with PMLD and complex needs. You will provide personalised assistance to pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning and stay safe, included, and supported.

You will collaborate with teachers and therapists to deliver individualised plans, support personal care routines, and encourage independence and communication.

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Support Assistant to join a specialist school supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of complex learning, physical, sensory, and medical needs, helping them access learning and achieve their individual goals.

About the role

As a Support Assistant, you will provide personalised support to pupils throughout the school day, helping them to feel safe, included, and supported. Your role will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support in the classroom and during personal care routines.
• Supporting sensory activities, physical development, and communication strategies.
• Encouraging pupils to build independence, confidence, and social skills.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Helping to create a positive and structured environment where pupils can learn and develop.

What we are looking for

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (experience with PMLD, complex needs, or non-verbal communication is desirable).
• A patient, calm, and compassionate approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships and support pupils with high levels of need.
• A willingness to work as part of a supportive school team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
