Job Title: Experienced PMLD Learning Support Assistant

Sector: Education and Training

Location: Bristol

Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing

Weekly Salary: £450 - £500 PER WEEK

As a PMLD Learning Support Assistant, You Will:

  1. Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support for students with PMLD, helping to foster their independence and personal development.
  2. Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.
  3. Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, mobility, and hygiene, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
  4. Promote an inclusive, positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
  5. Collaborate with the SEN team to monitor and adapt teaching strategies to support each student's learning journey.
  6. Utilize specialized equipment to ensure accessibility and aid in the students' learning experiences.
  7. Build strong, positive relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide holistic support for students.

What We're Looking For:

  1. Proven experience working with students with PMLD in an educational setting.
  2. A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people with complex needs.
  3. Familiarity with communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or similar (desirable).
  4. A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding guidelines.
  5. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent SEN-related qualification).
  6. Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment.
