Job summary

Madigan Gill Ltd is seeking an experienced Plumber / Pipe Fitter to join a college in Cinderford, GL14, to teach and mentor Plumbing and Pipe Fitting apprentices. No teaching qualification is required to apply, and the successful candidate will be supported through the relevant qualification to teach in Further Education.

The role involves delivering classroom-based and practical training, sharing industry experience, and guiding apprentices through a structured scheme of work.

Qualifications

• Strong Plumbing / Pipe Fitting background with genuine industry experience.
• Good knowledge of plumbing systems, pipework, installation methods and site practices.
• Ability to pass knowledge and experience on to young people.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Patient, approachable and confident personality.
• Ability to deliver a structured scheme of work.
• Teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Teaching and mentoring Plumbing and Pipe Fitting apprentices
• Delivering both classroom-based and practical training
• Sharing your experience and knowledge gained from working on construction sites
• Delivering a structured scheme of work
• Teaching apprentices how classroom theory applies to real site situations
• Supporting practical training and development
• Teaching safe working practices and construction health & safety
• Helping apprentices develop their plumbing and pipe fitting skills
• Teaching installation, maintenance and repair techniques
• Managing and engaging with groups of young apprentices, including challenging 17-year-olds
• Preparing apprentices for a career in the plumbing and pipe fitting industry
