Job summary

Mears Group is looking for an experienced Plumber to join our responsive repairs team in Croydon. The role covers a wide range of plumbing repairs in occupied social housing, fixing leaks, taps, heating and drainage, and keeping homes safe and comfortable.

You will work independently, use handheld devices to record job details, and participate in an out-of-hours rota. A Full UK driving licence is required, and you must be able to deliver high standards of customer service in residents' homes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a plumbing position.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
• Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work.
• Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rota.
• Desirable: G3 unvented qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive plumbing repairs in occupied properties.
• Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and drainage issues.
• Replace taps, toilets, cisterns, basins and other sanitary ware.
• Repair or replace pipework, valves and fittings.
• Work on unvented cylinders and hot water systems.
• Record job details using handheld devices and keep notes.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and maintain residents' homes.
• Take part in out‑of‑hours emergency rota when required.
