Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Plumber for their night shift team at a prestigious Canary Wharf site. You will perform plumbing maintenance, repairs and related mechanical works, working autonomously within the onsite engineering group to ensure the facility remains safe, reliable and fully operational.

You will handle reactive maintenance, fault finding and general plumbing duties, with involvement in planned preventive maintenance where trained.

Qualifications

  • NVQ or City & Guilds in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Experience in facilities management or commercial building services.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out plumbing repairs, maintenance and associated mechanical works across the site.
  • Diagnose plumbing faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise disruption.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and ensure works are completed to the required standard.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities where required.
  • Carry out maintenance and minor installation works on relevant building‑services assets within your level of competence.
  • Identify defects, potential failures and further works required, escalating these appropriately.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures and site requirements.
  • Complete job records and update work information accurately using electronic handheld devices.
  • Undertake contractor‑control duties where required, monitoring contractors and the standard of work completed.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and Facilities Management team to maintain high standards across the site.
  • Provide a professional and customer‑focused service to the client at all times.

About The Role:

Working Pattern : 4 on 4 off - 19:00 - 07:00 (Nights Only)

We are looking for an experienced Plumber to join our Hard Services team at a prestigious commercial site in Canary Wharf.

Working as part of the onsite engineering team, you will carry out plumbing maintenance, repairs and associated mechanical works, helping to ensure the building and its services remain safe, reliable and fully operational.

This is a hands‑on role covering reactive maintenance, fault finding and general plumbing duties. You may also support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities and other building‑services tasks where you are trained and competent to do so.

You will work with a degree of autonomy during the night shift while forming part of the wider site engineering team and delivering a professional service to our client.

About You
Essential
  • NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent recognised qualification in Plumbing/Mechanical Services.
  • Previous plumbing maintenance and repair experience within a Facilities Management, commercial or similar building‑services environment.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Relevant certifications and trade cards required to undertake the role, such as CSCS where applicable.
  • Ability to work confidently with minimal supervision during a night‑shift environment.
  • Comfortable using electronic handheld devices to receive, update and close jobs.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients, colleagues and contractors.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • Previous experience carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within an FM or commercial environment.
  • Experience working across both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Experience working within a large commercial building, critical environment or similar complex site.
  • Previous experience working as part of a multidisciplinary Hard Services or engineering team.
