Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited are currently seeking an experienced Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative to join an established repairs and maintenance team in Bedford and surrounding areas. The role involves responsive repairs across social housing properties, with opportunities to use your plumbing and general maintenance skills daily.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Plumber, Plumber Multi or Multi-Trade Operative
• Strong domestic plumbing and maintenance experience
• Good all-round multi-trade skills
• Social housing, housing associations, council properties or domestic maintenance experience desirable
• Experience working within occupied properties
• Plumbing qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent preferred
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently
• Good communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Carrying out responsive plumbing repairs and maintenance across social housing properties
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs safely and to a high standard
• Completing general multi-trade works including basic carpentry, patch plastering, tiling and minor building repairs
• Carrying out repairs within occupied properties, working respectfully around residents and their belongings
• Undertaking repairs within void properties, helping prepare homes for re-let
• Completing kitchen and bathroom repairs and maintenance
• Carrying out remedial works and making good following repairs
• Using handheld PDA/job-management systems to receive, update and complete jobs
• Identifying additional works and reporting any repairs requiring follow-up
• Keeping work areas clean, safe and tidy
• Providing excellent customer service to tenants and residents
• Working towards achieving first-time fixes wherever possible
