First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Plumber on behalf of one of our clients.

As a Plumber, the role holder will be required to undertake various tasks as a frontline operative, including routine and reactive maintenance to ensure facilities are available for university staff.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform alterations and repairs throughout the University Estate using various piping materials, including copper and plastic, for emergency and routine repairs. Use technical drawings to locate system components and isolation points.
2. Diagnose faults, identify required replacement parts, order them through the internal stores system, and report completed work and close work orders.
3. Replace all types of sanitary ware such as toilets, basins, showers, and fittings, with an understanding of hot and cold water systems and small-scale heating systems. Ensure all tasks comply with relevant Health and Safety regulations.
4. Identify faulty parts and collaborate with the in-house stores team to suggest alternative solutions.
5. Complete point-of-work risk assessments for each task and additional risk assessments if necessary. May supervise an apprentice or assistant when required.
6. Lead in ensuring Health and Safety compliance at all times.
7. Liaise daily with the Maintenance Unit Helpdesk to receive and report on work orders, ensuring detailed records are maintained.
8. Communicate regularly with the supervisor to report maintenance progress and any issues affecting service, safety, or morale. Maintain good discipline and team communication.
9. Review personal training needs and recommend suitable courses or programs. Attend toolbox talks and safety training to enhance team skills and personal development.
