Job summary

Johnson Matthey Plc is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to design, install and maintain PLC/SCADA software at the Royston site. You will support project design, implement controls strategies, and contribute to safety-related control functions.

The role requires hands-on PLC programming across Rockwell and Omron, experience with SCADA packages such as Intouch, Ignition and FactoryTalk View, and familiarity with industrial networks. A degree in Electronics/Controls is preferred.

Qualifications

• Formal Electronic/Controls qualification such as Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming across Rockwell and Omron platforms.
• Proficient in Studio 5000 / RS Logix 5000 and CX-Programmer.
• Experience with SCADA systems such as Intouch, Ignition, and FactoryTalk View.
• Experience integrating PLCs with SCADA/HMI systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, manage, and maintain PLC and SCADA software for Royston plant.
• Troubleshoot and fault-find logic, implement changes per MOC, support HAZOP/PHA as software/controls rep.
• Provide software/controls input for projects and new installations.
• Monitor and maintain controls network infrastructure including server health and data backups.
• Lead software-related breakdowns and reactive plant support.
