Job summary

Johnson Matthey Royston site seeks a Software/Controls Engineer to design, install, manage and maintain PLC and SCADA systems for plant operations. You’ll fault-find, test logic, and implement changes aligned with MOC actions, while supporting HAZOP studies as the software/controls representative.

You’ll lead software-related breakdowns, monitor the controls network, and provide expert knowledge of Rockwell and Omron platforms, plus SCADA packages such as InTouch and Ignition.

Qualifications

• Formal Electronic/Controls qualification such as Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent recognised training.
• Strong hands-on PLC programming experience across Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) and Omron (CS1/CJ series).
• Proficient in Studio 5000 / RS Logix 5000 for Rockwell Systems and CX-Programmer for Omron systems.
• Experience integrating PLCs with SCADA/HMI systems (InTouch, Ignition, FactoryTalk View).
• Skilled in diagnosing communication issues across Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus and Omron FINS networks.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain PLC and SCADA software for Royston plant.
• Fault find, test, and implement changes to existing controls infrastructure.
• Provide software input during projects from design to commissioning; participate in HAZOP/PHA as needed.
• Monitor and maintain the controls network including server health and data backups.
