Job summary

Hartland Recruitment & Advertising Limited is seeking an experienced PLC HMI Controls Support Engineer to visit customer sites and assist maintenance engineers in fault finding on PLC automated and electrical systems.

Role involves troubleshooting PLC software, addressing control panel issues, and occasionally delivering small PLC projects to improve client systems. Attractive package includes company vehicle and benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer with PLC controls work.
• Strong fault-finding skills across PLC/SCADA and electrical systems.
• Hands-on ability with PLC software modification and on-site fixes.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to assist maintenance engineers with fault finding on PLC and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs to resolve machine issues and improve performance.
• Address electrical control panel faults (loose wires, sensors) and implement fixes.
• Occasionally lead small PLC projects to enhance customer systems.

Job description

Alongside their PLC HMI SCADA and Electrical Control Systems Design, my clients have a thriving/ expanding division that offers PLC and Control Systems Support to maintenance teams in factories- helping them to fault find using PLC's, PLC software, plugging the gap in site automation, doing small projects to improve those PLC and Electrical Control systems on site. They've gained more customers who need support, so they need an extra experienced PLC HMI Controls Support Engineer.

You’ll be:

• Going to customer's sites to assist maintenance engineers to fault find on PLC Automated and Electrical Systems.
• Fault finding using PLC software to solve problems with machines
• Electrical control panel issues (e.g., loose wires, faulty sensors).
• Occasionally doing a small PLC project to improve a system for the customer- merge 2 conveyors, etc.

Ideally, you’ll have this:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, maybe you did some PLC Controls work there.
• PLC systems ability- fault finding good, modifying software good too, on one of these (Siemens TIA Portal, S7, WinCC, Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi).
• Strong electrical fault-finding and hands‑on skills.
• Someone who wants a job with some variety, seeing how different companies use PLC/ factory automation/ machinery and deepening control systems knowledge.
