Job summary

Stem Recruitment seeks an experienced Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of automation and control systems within a busy manufacturing environment. This specialist role focuses on PLC programming, modification and fault finding.

You will act as technical lead for PLC and machine control systems, programming Siemens and Mitsubishi PLCs, diagnosing faults, and supporting upgrades, and updating drawings and documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on PLC experience in controls, automation or systems-focused roles.
• Experience programming and fault finding on Siemens and Mitsubishi PLCs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic.

• Act as the technical lead for PLC and machine control systems
• Programme, modify and fault find PLCs, including Siemens and Mitsubishi
• Diagnose faults across automated equipment and industrial control systems
• Support equipment upgrades, new installations and system improvements
• Review and update electrical drawings, schematics and control documentation
• Work with suppliers and contractors on automation and controls projects
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and manufacturing processes

About You

• Strong, hands-on PLC experience gained in a dedicated controls, automation or systems-focused role
• Experience programming and fault finding on Siemens and Mitsubishi PLCs
• The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic
• Experience working with automated machinery within a manufacturing equipment
• A methodical approach to fault finding, problem solving and root cause analysis
