Job summary

Hartland Recruitment & Advertising Limited is seeking an experienced PLC Industrial Automation Support Engineer to diagnose faults, upgrade PLC systems, and support automated factory sites across the East of England. The role is based in Cambridgeshire with regional coverage for East Midlands and East Anglia.

You’ll work on PLC control software, drives, motors, sensors, and HMI systems, collaborating with a team of PLC Maintenance, Support, and Controls engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer or site PLC Automation Technician.
• Worked with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, or Mitsubishi.
• Hands-on fault-finding and upgrade work on packaging/processing machinery.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify faults on automated machinery.
• Upgrade PLC systems and modify control software.
• Support factory sites with PLC diagnostics, drives, motors, sensors faults.

PLC Industrial Automation Support Engineer

Due to growth, new work, and new customers, I am searching for an extra PLC Control Customer Support Engineer to use their PLC fault finding skills to aid leading manufacturers to solve problems on highly automated factory sites.

Role Overview

• Responsibilities: PLC diagnostics, fault finding, maintaining automated machinery, modifying PLC control software, electrical maintenance of packaging and processing machinery, and site automation improvements.
• Location: Based in Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire to support manufacturers with high PLC HMI factory automation needs in the East Midlands and East Anglia.

Join a growing team of PLC Maintenance, Support, and Controls Engineers. You’ll support factory sites by using your PLC skills to:

• Find and rectify problems with automated machinery.
• Upgrade PLC systems.
• Work on PLC control software, drives, motors, controls, and sensors fault finding.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer or site PLC Automation Technician.
• Worked with one of the main PLCs (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, S7, WinCC, Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation, Omron, Mitsubishi).
• Skilled in using PLC control software logic as a diagnostic tool to locate and rectify faults in PLC automated packaging or processing machinery.
• Hands-on skills and an interest in fixing production machinery and upgrades.

Rewards

• Basic salary: £51000.
• 40-hour working week with paid overtime circa £9000.
