Job summary

H Squared Talent Ltd is seeking an experienced PLC engineer to join a small engineering team in Cheshire. The role focuses on supporting and developing PLC-controlled production systems for bespoke scientific equipment, with scope to move into microcontroller-based control.

You will split time between maintaining existing PLC systems (Omron CX-Programmer, ladder logic, HMI) and shaping the next generation, collaborating with electronics and production teams.

Qualifications

• Engineering background required (degree, apprenticeship, HNC or HND).
• 4+ years in a similar PLC/industrial role.
• Experience with Omron CX-Programmer and PLC ladder logic.
• Able to read wiring schematics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support existing PLC control systems (Omron CX-Programmer, ladder logic, and HMI interfaces).
• Work with an electronics engineer to integrate motor/pump control (signal-level).
• Support Production/Test with fault diagnosis and acceptance testing.
• Read wiring schematics produced by electronics team.
• Start building familiarity with microcontroller-based control for future product development.
• Use Git for version control.
