Job summary

Rawmarsh Thorogate J&I School is seeking a Playleader to supervise lunch-time play and ensure a safe, positive experience for pupils. The role requires a friendly, patient approach and the ability to organise and lead a range of playground activities, promoting inclusive play and positive relationships among children.

The post is part-time (8.75 hours per week, 11:45–13:30), term-time only, with a DBS check as part of the recruitment process.

The Governors are looking to recruit a hardworking, enthusiastic and caring Playleader to join our lunchtime team. The successful candidate will have an important role in ensuring that lunchtime is a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for all children. The successful candidate will:

• Be enthusiastic about encouraging active, imaginative and inclusive play.
• Support children during the lunchtime period, both in the dining hall and on the playground.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage children to develop positive relationships with others.
• Be able to organise and lead a range of suitable playground activities and games.
• Support the inclusion of all children, regardless of their background, needs or stage of development.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate patience, empathy and understanding.
• Be confident in dealing with minor incidents and following appropriate school procedures.
• Be able to work independently and use their own initiative, as well as working collaboratively as part of a team.
• Be vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children.
• Be able to communicate effectively with children and staff.
• Be reliable, responsible and able to remain calm in a busy environment.
