Job summary

Preply is seeking a Senior II Security Engineer to secure our hybrid cloud platform (AWS/Kubernetes, expanding to GCP). You will lead end-to-end security initiatives, drive detection and response, and partner with SRE, Data, Engineering, and GRC to improve security postures.

Strong collaboration and hands-on implementation are essential. The role offers ownership in platform security, modern tooling like Datadog and Okta, and on-call rotations in a fast-growing ed-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience securing cloud and platform environments, especially AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience delivering security initiatives end-to-end in production.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and CI/CD with infrastructure as code.
• Experience with identity and access security, Okta monitoring.
• Experience building security operations and turning SIEM inputs into outcomes.
• Experience improving logging and detections; Datadog SIEM experience a plus.
• Strong collaboration across SRE, Data, Engineering, and GRC.
• Business-minded with cost-benefit awareness.
• Strong English communication.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Own platform security across AWS, Kubernetes, and GCP with focus on detection and incident response readiness.
• Lead platform security initiatives end-to-end from definition to rollout.
• Define how platform security is designed, implemented, and operated at Preply.
• Evolve monitoring from SIEM to effective detection and response.
• Work hands-on with Datadog SIEM and Okta IdP and other SaaS platforms.
• Drive cross-functional platform security initiatives with SRE, Data, Engineering, and GRC.
• Strengthen cloud and platform security across AWS and Kubernetes, expanding to GCP.
• Improve access control and auditability for internal infrastructure.
• Mature detection and response capabilities using Datadog.
• Create investigation playbooks and runbooks for consistent handling.
