Job summary

Cellular Origins seeks an exceptional engineering leader to head Platform Engineering, reporting to the COO. You will unite software, hardware, robotics and integration under a coherent, scalable platform for cell therapy manufacturing, guiding priorities and removing barriers to delivery.

You will partner with Product, Customer Delivery and Operations to align plans with customer programs while building capability and governance that lasts beyond the initial growth phase.

Qualifications

• Leadership of a substantial multidisciplinary engineering department
• Experience with integrated automation, robotics, and complex capital equipment
• Credibility across software, embedded systems, electronics, hardware, controls, robotics and integration
• Platform mindset balancing architecture, modularity and lifecycle needs with product demands
• Engineering rigour including quality, safety, design assurance and verification
• Commercial and customer judgement balancing scope, cost and risk
• Clear communication across technical and non‑technical groups
• Experience in a regulated, safety‑critical or high‑reliability environment is valuable

Responsibilities

• Set direction: translate strategy into a platform-engineering roadmap and credible resourcing.
• Lead and develop leaders for software, hardware, robotics and systems integration.
• Drive delivery: make plans realistic, surface risk early and remove blockers.
• Establish engineering standards: architecture, design reviews, verification and change control.
• Protect and evolve the platform: ensure coherence and long‑term scale.
• Coordinate with product, customer delivery and operations for coherent plans.
• Represent platform engineering externally to customers, partners and suppliers.
• Build future capability: plan talent, skills, and knowledge sharing.
