You will guide squads across savings, mortgages and transaction-processing services, modernise the platform and foster an engineering culture built on clarity, accountability and continuous improvement.

• High-performance delivery: reduce lead time, increase deployment frequency, low CFR on high-integrity platforms.
• Outcome-led thinking: use telemetry and servicing insight to guide priorities and decisions.
• Deep craft in Core Banking engineering: hands-on with savings, mortgages, posting engines and ledger workflows.
• Influence, clarity and values: develop engineers, partner with Architecture/Security/Audit, model Skipton values.

Responsibilities

• Define and scale the Golden Path for Core Banking with secure pipelines and resilience-first patterns.
• Architect for reliability and observability, shaping contracts and platform boundaries.
• Shift left on quality and security with contract/performance checks into CI/CD and policy-as-code.
• Lead platform modernisation, decoupling legacy components and reducing technical debt.
• Improve operational excellence with recovery drills and audit-ready improvements.
• Coach engineers, publish reusable templates and lead Communities of Practice.
• Work backwards from member outcomes to stabilise servicing and financial workflows.
