Job summary

Lorien is seeking a Platform Engineer to drive infrastructure automation from Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role focuses on shifting to a platform model with self-serve tooling, shared services, and strong standards. You’ll work on IaC, cloud automation, and end-to-end platform ownership in a hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Terraform/Terraform Cloud experience required.
• Hands-on production cloud experience (Azure DevOps); cross over to AWS/GCP ok.
• Proficient with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Solid cloud networking and identity concepts (VNet, DNS, access control).
• Experience with testing, change processes, and release readiness.

Responsibilities

• Split time between hands-on build work and collaborating with dependent teams.
• Own platform work end-to-end from build through testing, docs, and handover.
• Define done criteria, testing, rollback, and knowledge transfer requirements.
• Develop and maintain cloud pipelines and automation using IaC and scripting.
• Create reusable templates, modules, and runbooks for others to reuse.
• Contribute to design discussions and code reviews, mentoring peers.
• Identify risks and dependencies early, offering options rather than problems.
• Keep documentation updated for future maintainers.
