Job summary

Spreadex in St Albans is looking for a talented Platform Engineer to join our Platform Team. You will build and operate the platform that underpins our award-winning trading platforms, enabling engineers to develop, test and deploy applications.

You will work with AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, and a range of tooling, while advancing AI-enabled workflows. The role offers hybrid working with a mix of office and home, and opportunities to shape our internal tooling and developer experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a software engineering role, ideally C#/.NET; other languages accepted.
• Experience with cloud (AWS preferred) and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred).
• Strong communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools and AI practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the platform underpinning our trading platforms.
• Develop tools and services to support developers and AI agents.
• Work with AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis/Valkey, HAProxy, Consul, Grafana, OpenSearch, Terraform and more.

This opening provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a growing team in a vibrant office based in St Albans, just outside London. The role will be a mix of working from the office and working from home. Our office is based in St Albans, Hertfordshire with a fast and simple commute from London and the surrounding area.

About The Position

We're looking for a talented Platform Engineer to join our Platform Team at Spreadex. You will be responsible for building and operating the platform that underpins our award-winning trading platforms, alongside the tools and services that support the efficient workflows of our Software Engineers, allowing them to develop, build, test and deploy applications. We embrace the opportunities enabled by AI and are looking to improve our tools and processes to better utilise and support our developers and AI agents. The Platform Team play a central role in designing and developing these tools. We use a diverse range of technologies to operate the platform — AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis/Valkey, HAProxy, Consul, Grafana, OpenSearch, Terraform and more. We also use a wide range of development tools/languages — C#/.NET, Node.js, Python, Azure DevOps Pipelines, ArgoCD

About You

Required

• Experience in a software engineering role (ideally C#/.NET, but also Python, Node.js, Powershell or Bash)
• Experience with cloud (ideally AWS) and infrastructure as code (ideally Terraform)
• Strong communication skills
• Hands-on experience of AI tools and knowledge of AI practices

Desirable

• Experience with Kubernetes and related technologies (Linux/Docker)
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools
• Understanding of security principles and best practices
• An enthusiasm to learn different technologies and adapt to an evolving industry
