Platform Engineer | C#/.NET, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes | 20+ Year Profitable Financial Firm Expanding Overseas
- Salary: above-market base plus a generous bonus
- Location: Greater London, hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 remote)
- Office days: Tuesday and Wednesday
I'm working with a long-established, consistently profitable online financial business that wants a software engineer for its three-person platform team. You'll run the platform behind 400+ C# microservices and write the code that makes life easier for the 30 developers who rely on it every day.
This suits a developer who has moved towards infrastructure. You've built services commercially, and you've built and run things in AWS with Terraform. The team are developers first, so your coding background counts for more here than years of pipeline scripting.
What They're Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- Software engineering: commercial developer experience, C#/.NET ideally, or Node.js/TypeScript
- Cloud infrastructure: building and running it, ideally on AWS
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ideally Terraform
- AI coding tools: hands-on, and keen to push them further
- Communication: you'll support around 30 engineers day to day
What You'll Work With
- Kubernetes (K8s), Linux and Docker
- Kafka
- Redis/Valkey
- HAProxy and Consul
- Grafana and OpenSearch
- Azure DevOps Pipelines and Argo CD
- Python and TypeScript for most day-to-day coding
Nice to Haves
- Observability: building monitoring and alerting
- Security principles and best practice
Why Join / Projects
- You'll keep writing code, including C# services that process branches and hand releases to the testing service.
- You'll know the friction developers hit because you've hit it yourself, and you'll build the fixes.
- The platform team has more autonomy than any other IT team there. You'll set requirements, decide how to meet them and choose what to tackle next.
- Work splits roughly 50/50 between support and projects, from app work to the yearly Kubernetes upgrade, and the team moves on quickly when something more useful comes up.
- AI is part of the job. They want people who spot where it helps and bring it in, and you'll use Claude Code in the final interview.
- The business is growing into new markets, and the process is quick: a short online test, then a technical and final interview, usually the next day.
They release many times a day, so the team staggers its hours to cover releases. It's also office-heavy by design, with everyone in on the same days to make the time count, so make sure the commute works.
Employee Benefits
- Bonus based on company, department and individual performance
- Early or standard shift pattern to suit you
- 2 weeks fully remote per year
- 25 days holiday, rising to 30 after 2 years
- Contributory pension
- Private medical insurance
