Job summary

VIQU IT is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer in Birmingham for a 5‑month contract. The role is hybrid, with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote, focusing on Azure, VMware, and Terraform/IaC within a major enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on Azure experience across compute, networking, storage, Entra ID and security, plus Terraform/IaC, VMware administration, and Windows Server/AD proficiency. Hybrid Azure/on‑prem support is essential to success.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on enterprise Azure experience across Compute, Networking, Storage, Entra ID and Security.
• Proven Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
• Strong VMware vSphere/ESXi administration experience.
• Solid Windows Server and Active Directory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Review and action findings from a detailed assessment of the Azure platform estate carried out by a consultant.
• Remediate identified issues and implement recommendations to improve the Azure platform.
• Manage, monitor, maintain and optimise the Azure and hybrid infrastructure once the initial remediation work is complete.
• Develop and maintain Terraform/IaC solutions and automate infrastructure changes.
• Support VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory and on‑prem infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot platform issues, resolve incidents and drive ongoing platform improvements.

Platform Engineer

VIQU is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join a major enterprise customer in Birmingham. The environment is approximately 75% Azure / 25% on-prem, with a strong focus on Azure, VMware and Terraform/IaC.

Platform Engineer Required Experience & Skills

• Strong hands‑on enterprise Azure experience across Compute, Networking, Storage, Entra ID and Security.
• Proven Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
• Strong VMware vSphere/ESXi administration experience.
• Solid Windows Server and Active Directory knowledge.
• Experience managing and supporting hybrid Azure/on‑prem environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident resolution and production support experience.

Platform Engineer Responsibilities
