Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Platform and DevOps Engineer to design, build and operate delivery platform deployment automation, observability and security controls across multi-environment pipelines.

You will work on GitLab CI/CD, Helm charts for Java services, Docker images, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and implement robust monitoring, logging and tracing while integrating security into the lifecycle. Hybrid role with client sites and offices in the UK.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• Expertise in GitLab CI/CD pipeline engineering, release automation and artifact promotion.
• Hands-on with Docker, Helm, container platforms, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of Java Spring Boot applications and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and operational monitoring of event-driven systems.
• Observability tooling for logs, metrics and traces (Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry).
• Security scanning, code quality controls, container security and dependency management in CI/CD.
• Experience supporting distributed enterprise systems; familiarity with TDD and AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for multi-environment deployments.
• Develop and manage Helm charts and deployment configurations for Java services.
• Build, troubleshoot and optimize Docker images and runtimes; manage container networks.
• Enhance platform observability with metrics, dashboards, logging and tracing.
• Integrate security and quality controls into CI/CD pipelines; manage secrets and compliance evidence.
• Design deployment resilience: rollback, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with security, architecture and operations teams to deliver scalable platform capabilities.
