Job summary

Altana is the network for trusted trade. The Platform Operations & Compliance team integrates Altana’s products with customers to deliver data pipelines, resilience, and secure cross‑border data flows for public sector engagements.

In this role, you will develop, deploy and scale distributed data pipelines, drive platform reliability and governance, and act as the technical expert in client meetings, bridging government needs with our architecture.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical experience in data engineering or closely related roles.
• Experience building and maintaining complex data models from diverse sources and schemas.
• Led full lifecycle (Design, Development, Test, Deploy, Monitor, Maintain) of data ingestion and standardization pipelines at scale.
• Focus on sustainable software, self-healing data workflows, and data governance.
• Experience deploying and integrating software solutions across client cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), managing core services like EC2, S3, IAM, and Dockerized microservices.
• Experience leading and mentoring other engineers on complex data engineering projects.
• Eligible and willing to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance or have an active clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience interacting with external customers and stakeholders.
• Keeps up to date with trends in data engineering and values engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and continuously improve distributed, big-data pipelines powering Altana’s network analysis, ML, data ingestion and fusion capabilities.
• Understand and drive Altana's technology to be more scalable and meet evolving customer requirements.
• Support platform reliability, cost and controls and assist with security reviews and accreditations.
• Serve as the technical expert in client-facing meetings, bridging government requirements with our platform architecture.
• Work in a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists and product managers.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies and best practices for data pipeline development, orchestration and deployment.
