Job summary

Tawakkul Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder / Plater Fabricator to join its established engineering and fabrication team in Rotherham. The role focuses on MIG/MAG welding of structural steel and fabricating components from engineering drawings, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and quality.

You will read drawings, mark out materials, measure, cut, drill, burn and grind as part of assembling heavy fabrications, including frames, beams and columns. Experience in welding codes is beneficial.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in Welding/Fabrication is advantageous.
• Welding codings are beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate components from engineering drawings.
• Read drawings, mark out and measure materials to spec.
• Cut, drill, burn and grind steel as required.
• Fit, tack and assemble fabrications into assemblies.
• Prepare components for final welding and ensure high workmanship standards.
• Work with heavy/structural steel including frames, beams and columns.

Job description

Welder / Plater Fabricator

Location: Rotherham

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are looking for experienced Welders and Plater/Fabricators to join an establsihed engineering and fabrication company working on a range of heavy and structural steel fabrications.

The Role

You will be working on a variety of structural and heavy steel fabrication projects, producing components and assemblies from engineering drawings.

Duties will include:

• MIG/MAG welding of mild and structural steel
• Reading and working from engineering drawings
• Measuring and marking out steel plate and sections
• Cutting, drilling, burning and grinding materials
• Fitting, tacking and assembling fabrications
• Preparing components prior to final welding
• Working with plate, beams, columns, frames and structural assemblies
• Checking dimensions and maintaining a high standard of workmanship

Plater / Fabricator Requirements

Plater/Fabricators should be confident working independently from engineering drawings and be able to carry out:

• Marking out
• Material preparation
• Fit-up
• Tacking
• Assembly of fabricated steelwork

Welder Requirements

Welders should have strong MIG/MAG welding experience, ideally working with medium to heavy steel. Experience within structural steel, heavy engineering or bespoke fabrication would be highly advantageous.

Ideal Experience

Previous experience in any of the following would be relevant:

• Plater
• Fabricator
• Welder/Fabricator
• MIG/MAG Welder
• Structural Steel Fabricator

Experience producing items such as conveyors, hoppers, platforms, staircases, heavy frames, beams, columns, tanks or similar fabricated assemblies would be beneficial.

Qualifications

NVQ, City & Guilds or similar Welding/Fabrication qualifications are advantageous.
