Job summary

Advanced Engineering in Oldham is seeking a Plater / Fabricator to join our fabrication team. You will mark out, cut, shape and assemble plate and fabricated components, operate fabrication tools safely, and prepare components for welding.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, accurate measuring, and working with overhead cranes. 37.5 hour week, £20 per hour, on-site duties. You will report defects and support production goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working as a Plater / Fabricator within a fabrication or heavy manufacturing background
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong fabrication, measuring, marking out and assembly skills
  • Health and Safety awareness around lifting material and handling the fabrication equipment
  • Reliable and proactive person able to work as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Mark out, cut, shape, form and assemble plate, section and fabricated components
  • Use appropriate fabrication tools, machinery and equipment safely and correctly
  • Prepare, align and tack components ready for welding, ensuring they meet required standards
  • Check work for accuracy, quality and compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Work safely with overhead cranes, lifting equipment and mechanical handling equipment where trained and authorised
  • Report defects, drawing issues or material concerns or production problems to the line manager
