Job summary

Morson Edge in Glasgow is recruiting Platers for a shipbuilding project. This is a 12-month contract with potential extension, working on real ships and related structures.

You will fabricate, assemble, and install ship components to exacting standards, reading drawings and following manufacturing processes, with emphasis on safety and adherence to environmental risks. Seasonal shifts and overtime may apply.

Responsibilities

• Fabricating, assembling, and installing key ship components to the highest standards.
• Marking off materials.
• Building ship shells, decks, bulkheads & more.
• Fabricating ladders, panels & flooring.
• Installing hatches, watertight doors & onboard equipment.
• Using machinery for rolling, cutting & forming materials.
• Preparing vessels for launch and sea trials.
• Docking work, plate prep, pressure testing & fitting.

Morson is on the lookout for skilled Platers to join an exciting shipbuilding project in Glasgow - and this isn't just any job. It's your chance to help bring world-class vessels to life!

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be at the heart of the action - fabricating, assembling, and installing key ship components to the highest standards.

• Marking off materials
• Building ship structures (shells, decks, bulkheads & more)
• Fabricating items like ladders, panels & flooring
• Installing hatches, watertight doors & onboard equipment
• Using machinery for rolling, cutting & forming materials
• Preparing vessels for launch and sea trials
• Docking work, plate prep, pressure testing & fitting

What You'll Need

Pay Rates (PAYE)

Days:

• Locals: £20.80/hr
• Non-locals: £28.80/hr

Nights:

• Locals: £27.66/hr
• Non-locals: £35.66/hr

Umbrella rates available (ask for full rate card)
