Job summary

Morson Group in Glasgow is recruiting skilled platers for a 12-month shipbuilding contract, offering real ship work rather than bench parts. You will fabricate, assemble and install key vessel components to exacting standards in a live yard environment.

Candidates should be able to read fabrication drawings, demonstrate hands-on fabrication and assembly skills, and follow safety procedures. Overtime is available and 33 days holiday are included.

Qualifications

• Ability to read fabrication & installation drawings.
• Strong hands‑on fabrication and assembly skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Solid awareness of safety, health & environmental risks.

Responsibilities

• Fabricating, assembling and installing key ship components to the highest standards.
• Marking off materials.
• Building ship structures (shells, decks, bulkheads & more).
• Fabricating items like ladders, panels & flooring.
• Installing hatches, watertight doors & onboard equipment.
• Using machinery for rolling, cutting & forming materials.
• Preparing vessels for launch and sea trials.
• Docking work, plate prep, pressure testing & fitting.
