Job summary

The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking a Vehicle Fleet Inspector to join the Vehicle Fleet Management Team. You will carry out vehicle inspections and repairs to DVSA standards, including HGV, to ensure council vehicles remain safe and compliant for residents.

This role offers opportunities for good training and progression within a small, experienced team. A Level 3 HGV qualification and a basic DBS are essential; a split shift pattern is expected and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting and repairing to DVSA standards for HGV/LGV vehicles.
• Ability to complete inspection and repair documentation to required standards.
• Willingness to participate in training and development within the Fleet team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle inspections and repairs to DVSA standards (including HGV).
• Maintain inspection records and documentation in line with DVSA and O Licence requirements.
• Support the Fleet team with training and continuous improvement initiatives.

About The Team You'll Be Working In

Vehicle Fleet Management (VFM) is a small experienced team aiming to provide vehicles and compliance to a wide variety of light and heavy goods vehicles. Our aim is to retain compliance of vehicles to a high standard to ensure council services are operational with minimal disruption to residents and their expectations.

Reporting to the Head of Fleet.

About You

• Can work within a busy team, being flexible and work a split shift pattern
• Enthusiastic to learn, progress career & attend training
• Good extensive knowledge of HGV and LGV defect finding & repair to DVSA standard.
• Level 3 HGV mechanical qualification
• Able to complete inspection & repair documentation and keep good records in line with O Licence and DVSA standards

Essential for The Role:

• Basic DBS
