We are looking for a Quality Technician to be responsible for the inspection and quality verification of complete vehicles entering and leaving our new Birmingham-based Car Build facility, ensuring that vehicles meet defined specifications, quality standards, customer requirements, and release criteria. You will carry out incoming vehicle inspections to establish vehicle condition and specification prior to work commencing, as well as final inspections of completed vehicles prior to release. The role will also provide day-to-day quality support to production and assembly teams, identifying defects, recording non-conformances, and supporting effective resolution of quality issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed incoming vehicle inspections, recording vehicle condition, damage, defects and other relevant observations prior to work commencing.
  • Conduct final and outgoing vehicle inspections to verify that completed vehicles conform to build specifications, engineering requirements, customer requirements and defined quality standards prior to release.
  • Verify that vehicle modifications, assemblies and installed components have been completed correctly and meet defined inspection criteria.
  • Carry out functional checks and basic measurement activities using appropriate inspection and test equipment.
  • Identify, document and communicate defects and non-conformances, including photographic evidence where appropriate.
  • Raise and maintain quality records for incoming, in-process and outgoing inspections, ensuring traceability of inspection results and vehicle status.
  • Support production teams in identifying and resolving quality issues and preventing defects from progressing through the build process.
  • Verify completed work against drawings, specifications, build instructions, inspection standards and other controlled documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Quality to maintain consistent quality standards and effective communication of quality issues.
Who are we looking for?
  • Proven experience in a quality inspection, quality assurance or quality control role, preferably within automotive, vehicle manufacturing, vehicle conversion, mechanical assembly or a similar environment.
  • Experience inspecting complete vehicles or complex mechanical/electrical assemblies.
  • Good understanding of vehicle systems, mechanical assemblies and general automotive construction.
  • Experience carrying out incoming, in-process and final/outgoing inspections.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, build instructions and inspection criteria.
  • Knowledge of basic inspection techniques and use of measurement and test equipment.
  • Experience with PDI, final inspection or release inspection processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to inspection.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly report defects and communicate quality concerns to production and engineering personnel.
