Job summary

Bristol Industrial is seeking a Project Engineer to lead multiple mechanical engineering projects, overseeing specification, sourcing, installation and commissioning of new machinery. You will work with contractors, manage timelines, and drive improvements across a dynamic facility.

The role requires hands-on technical leadership, strong project management skills, and experience in both mechanical and electrical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to at least an HNC in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Experience in overseeing specification, sourcing, purchasing, installation and commissioning of machinery.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work with contractors and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, specify, source and purchase machines and equipment.
  • Supervise sub-contractors and ensure project delivery on time and within cost.
  • Create project plans for rearrangements, installation, improvements and cost reductions.
  • Collect and analyse data to improve equipment availability and asset utilisation.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for reliability improvements on site.

Job description

ProjectEngineer
The Opportunity:

This role would suit somebody with excellent Project Management skills who's used to working in a fast paced Mechanical Engineering business and can oversee the specification, sourcing, purchasing, installation and commissioning of new machinery(both mechanical and electrical). The Project Engineerwillbe used to managing mutiple projects simultaneously, have the ability to work with contractors and complete projects in a timely manner. A really interesting, varied and hands on role in a rapidly changing and expanding engineering facility.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Identifying, specifying, sourcing, and purchasing machines and equipment.
  • Supervising sub-contractors, ensuring project implementation to time and cost whilst complying with all Company and H&S requirements.
  • Creating project plans to support machine rearrangement, equipment installation, improvement, and cost reduction projects.
  • Identifying and implementing cost reduction and method improvement opportunities.
  • Purchasing parts and equipment for improvement works, collating receipts and raising purchase requisitions.
  • Carrying out plant engineering activities, with minimal supervision, across the site including building/mechanical infrastructure and manufacturing equipment.
  • Providing technical expertise, including data analysis, planning and execution to improve equipment availability and asset utilisation for the site.
  • Identifying and making improvements to the reliability of equipment to reduce reoccurring faults and downtime.
  • Assisting Maintenance undertaking fault finding across the plant and on the equipment.
  • Implementing and driving reliability excellence (REX) on critical equipment.
  • Creation and maintenance of technical files for new and existing equipment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Qualified to a HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 year’s relevant technical experience within an Engineering environment.
  • Ability to identify and solve to root cause, repetitive reliability problems and write maintenance procedures
  • Ability to collect and analyse overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) on critical equipment
  • CAD experience, full Microsoft suite and ideally Oracle useful.
