Job summary

SUEZ is hiring at a busy material transfer station in Fareham. You will operate mobile and fixed plant, including maintenance, and help manage traffic and weighbridge operations.

The role requires licences for loading shovel, 360 tele-handler and forklift, plus a strong focus on safety and teamwork. You will work to ensure compliance with site permits, company policies and procedures, while delivering excellent customer service to visitors and customers.

Qualifications

• Operational experience and current licences for loading shovel, 360 tele-handler and forklift.
• Strong health & safety awareness and ability to follow site procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant, including cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Manage traffic by guiding tipping vehicles and ensuring safe site movement.
• Operate the weighbridge and accurately record vehicle weights and details.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and welfare duties for staff and visitors.
• Co-operate with SUEZ and colleagues to meet site permits and policies.
• Provide customer service to clients and members of the public, including on-site support.

Job description

What will I be doing?

You will carry out duties individually, or as a member of a team, for operations to control, transfer and stockpile waste & recyclables at a busy material transfer station.

The rolewill involve:

• Operating mobile and fixed plant, including cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Managing traffic, such as guiding tipping vehicles.
• Operate the weighbridge and accurately record the weight and other specified details of vehicles both entering and leaving the site.
• Ensure that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties, in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
• Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with site permits, all applicable legislation and SUEZ Policies and Procedures.
• Co-operating directly with customers and members of the public, providing excellent customer service.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role, including undertaking first aider / fire safety duties on site.

What are the requirements?

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a working knowledge of the site licence / permit system and who will work to ensure site operations meet the standards required. You'll need a flexible approach, working in a challenging environment, expected to provide cover for annual leave and on occasion to help cover weekends, as well as:

• Operational experience and current licences for loading shovel, 360 tele-handler and forklift
• You’ll have the opportunity to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure and operation of site machinery.
• Prior waste / recycling or similar process environment highly advantageous
• Excellent understanding and approach to health & safety
• Great communication and customer service skills
• Good IT skills.
