Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a Plant Operative / Batching Plant Operator to join our team at a busy concrete/mortar plant. You will operate the batching plant safely, ensuring production meets customer requirements while maintaining high safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities include loading materials, liaising with customers and the Order Office, and keeping stock and plant equipment in good condition.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above.
• Strong awareness of health, safety and environmental responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
• Proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.
• Experience in construction materials or manufacturing is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the batching plant to produce concrete and mortar accurately.
• Liaise with customers, plant teams and the Order Office to meet delivery needs.
• Load materials and operate plant equipment, including FEL where trained.
• Carry out routine inspections and report defects promptly.
• Maintain stock levels and perform regular stock checks.
• Keep site and equipment clean and presentable to high standards.
• Support environmental compliance by managing waste and emissions.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure site safety requirements are followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance and site standards.
