Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a hands-on Plant Supervisor to take ownership of our concrete plant operations. You will lead day-to-day production, ensure safe working practices, and deliver high-quality concrete and mortar for customers with a strong service mindset.

Reporting to Area Operations, you will supervise batching, coordinate with drivers and Order Office, manage materials, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining site compliance with health, safety and environmental

Qualifications

• Experience in concrete or construction materials operations.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards.
• Experience operating mobile plant equipment, especially loading shovels.
• Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
• Excellent customer-focused communication.
• Proactive attitude and commitment to site standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe and effective operation of the batching plant and associated equipment.
• Coordinate with the Order Office, drivers, customers and teams to meet requirements.
• Produce high-quality concrete and mortar products per procedures and standards.
• Maintain adequate stock levels of approved raw materials to support production.
• Carry out regular inspections, routine maintenance and report defects promptly.
• Keep the site, plant, buildings and facilities clean and well-presented.
• Monitor incoming materials and perform regular stock checks.
• Lead by example to ensure health, safety and environmental rules are followed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximise plant performance and efficiency.
• Manage environmental controls including waste disposal, water discharge and dust emissions.
• Maintain accurate operational records and ensure policy compliance.
