Job Title: Plant Maintenance Technician
Shift
2nd shift from 3pm-11:30pm Monday-Friday, with potential overtime daily and on weekends.
Pay Range
$27 - $34/hr starting pay based on experience.
Summary
Performs preventive and reactive maintenance duties required for the manufacturing operations of the plant. Responsibilities include executing PM schedules, repairing equipment to maintain maximum production rates, and maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory. Flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends, and fulfill on-call duties is required.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair machines and controls (plastics, DC/AC motors & drives, downstream equipment, chillers, etc.).
- Maintain and develop job skills through company training programs.
- Order replacement parts and control components from suppliers as needed.
- Contribute to CMMS performance by completing timely PM and repair work orders while ensuring compliance.
- Respond first to machine troubleshooting issues and contact Electrical Engineering for additional support if needed.
- Support daily management directives and initiatives.
- Assist in developing and implementing continuous improvement projects to enhance production efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure safe and reliable operation of plant equipment.
Job Skills
Candidates should possess the following skills and knowledge:
- Experience using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, Meggers, etc.
- Understanding of basic machine functions and sequence of operations.
- Experience reading electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and NFPA 79 codes.
- Familiarity with Lock Out Tag Out safety procedures.
- Knowledge of arc flash and PPE requirements.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership abilities with good time management and task prioritization.
- Proficiency in electrical formulas and mechanical math.
- Knowledge of 3-phase industrial wiring and power distribution.
- Experience with AC & DC drive/motor PMs, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC I/O and networking hardware, with program modification/troubleshooting skills at Tech III level.
- Motion training with servo drives and motors.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with plant personnel, vendors, and company resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
- Experience in root cause analysis and problem solving.
Educational Requirements
High School or Vocational School Diploma or equivalent is required. Technician-level training in electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics is preferred.
Experience
- 2-7 years of industrial maintenance, electrical systems, and controls experience.
- Basic PLC and drive training.
- Plastic process knowledge.
