Job description

Salary: GBP28000 - GBP30000 per annum + Company van

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an Interior Plant Maintenance Technician to join an established family business providing planting and maintenance services to commercial clients across the Midlands and M1 corridor.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate about plants and horticulture, enjoys working independently and is confident building positive relationships with clients. You'll manage a planned three-week rota, travelling to commercial client sites across the Midlands and M1 corridor to care for and maintain indoor planting, ensuring plants remain healthy, attractive and presented to a high standard.

This is also a very client-facing position . Many clients operate within professional corporate environments, including the finance and legal sectors, so we're looking for someone who is not only knowledgeable about plants but also personable, presentable and confident communicating with people at all levels .

You’ll largely manage your own working day and client visits, so reliability, organisation and the ability to work independently are equally important.

A company van is provided for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visit commercial client sites across the Midlands and M1 corridor in line with a planned three-week maintenance rota
  • Water, feed, clean and prune indoor plants
  • Monitor plants for pests, disease and other plant health issues, taking appropriate action where required
  • Ensure plants and displays are maintained to a consistently high standard
  • Take pride in the appearance and presentation of plants across client sites
  • Build positive, professional relationships with clients
  • Respond confidently and professionally to client queries
  • Represent the business to a high standard while working on client premises
  • Work independently and manage your daily schedule effectively
  • Use a tablet to follow schedules and record completed work
  • Attend a Monday morning meeting in Leeds and replenish stock for the company van
  • Replace plants that are failing or no longer meet presentation standards, following company guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of plant condition and maintenance visits
  • Transport plants, tools and materials safely between client sites
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times while working in commercial environments
  • Report site issues including access restrictions, incomplete work and outstanding plant replacements
  • Work in line with company maintenance standards and agreed KPI targets
Requirements
  • Experience in plant care, horticulture or interior landscaping, gained professionally or through relevant practical experience
  • Strong knowledge of common indoor plant species and their care requirements
  • A genuine passion for plants and horticulture
  • Good practical plant knowledge and a strong interest in plant health and care
  • Confident, personable and professional when dealing with clients
  • Comfortable communicating with people at all levels within professional working environments
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Confident working independently and managing a mobile schedule
  • Comfortable using a tablet for day-to-day scheduling and reporting
  • Flexible around working hours when required by client sites
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and follow a route schedule
  • Good physical fitness, with the ability to lift moderate loads and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Previous experience in a similar plant maintenance or interiorscape role would be advantageous
  • Experience working in office or commercial environments would be advantageous
  • A horticultural qualification such as RHS Level 2 or equivalent would be advantageous
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred
