Job summary

Halmer Recruit is recruiting for a Mobile Plant Maintenance Technician to join a family business delivering planting and maintenance services to commercial clients. The role covers London and locations around the M25, with holiday cover for the London team and occasional plant deliveries.

You'll have a horticultural qualification (RHS Level 1–3) and a genuine passion for plants, plus client-facing responsibilities in professional environments. A company van is provided.

Responsibilities

• Visit commercial client sites across London and the M25 area.

• Water, feed, clean and prune plants during visits.
• Monitor plant health and pest issues and take action as needed.
• Provide holiday cover for other technicians across the London team.
• Assist with plant deliveries when required.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Mobile Plant Maintenance Technician to join an established family business providing planting and maintenance services to commercial clients.

This is a varied mobile horticultural role covering London and locations around the M25, supporting the wider maintenance team while ensuring indoor planting is maintained to a consistently high standard.

Alongside your scheduled plant maintenance visits, you'll provide holiday cover for other technicians across the London team and assist with plant deliveries when required. The territory can include locations such as Stevenage, Guildford, Basildon, Wembley, Staines and Peckham, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are important.

We're looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about plants and horticulture and takes pride in maintaining plants to a high standard.

This is also a very client-facing position. You'll regularly be working within professional commercial environments, so you'll need to be personable, presentable and confident communicating with clients at all levels.

You'll often be working independently and managing your own visits, so you'll also need to be reliable, organised and comfortable adapting your schedule to support different sites and team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit commercial client sites across London and the M25 area
• Maintain indoor plants to a consistently high standard

• Take appropriate action where plant health issues are identified
• Ensure plants and displays remain healthy, attractive and well presented
• Provide holiday cover for Plant Maintenance Technicians across the London team
• Assist with plant deliveries when required
• Adapt your schedule to support different sites and colleagues
• Build positive and professional relationships with clients
• Respond confidently and professionally to client queries
• Represent the business to a high standard while working on client premises
• Work independently and organise daily visits effectively
• Use a tablet to follow schedules and record completed work

Requirements

• A horticultural qualification such as RHS Level 1, 2 or 3, or an equivalent qualification
• Ideally at least two years' practical horticultural experience
• A genuine passion for plants and horticulture
• Good practical plant knowledge and a strong interest in plant health and care
• Previous experience working within a client-facing role
• Confident, personable and professional when dealing with clients
• Comfortable communicating with people at all levels
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
• Confident working independently and organising your own visits
• Flexible and comfortable covering a broad geographical area
• Willing to provide holiday cover across different territories
• Comfortable using a tablet for day-to-day scheduling and reporting
• Willing to assist with plant deliveries when required

Working Hours

The usual working hours are 7.00am to 4.00pm, with a 30-minute break.

Some client sites require a 6.00am start, and finish times may vary depending on the work scheduled for that day.

As this position also provides holiday cover across the wider London team, flexibility around working hours and location is important.

Location & Travel

This is a mobile position covering London and locations around the M25.

The territory can include areas such as Stevenage, Guildford, Basildon, Wembley, Staines and Peckham, with travel between different client sites forming a significant part of the position.

As you'll also provide holiday cover for other members of the London team, the geographical area will vary depending on business requirements.

A company van is provided.
