Acorn by Synergie in Cardiff is recruiting a Workshop & Maintenance Supervisor. The role oversees a team of technicians, plans preventive maintenance, and minimises downtime across a diverse fleet of heavy plant.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, extensive workshop management experience, and a proven track record in cost control and preventive maintenance planning.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plant maintenance or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience managing a heavy plant workshop.
• Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience with OEM diagnostic tools and troubleshooting software.
• Proven planning, budgeting and fleet management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the workshop team to ensure safe, productive operations.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance based on hours and OEM guidance.
• Prioritise breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Monitor workshop productivity and allocate tasks.
• Develop maintenance schedules, service plans and inspections.
• Manage supplier quotes and parts sourcing cost-effectively.
• Oversee parts purchasing and inventory control.
• Analyse maintenance costs and identify efficiency gains.
• Support oil sampling and condition monitoring programmes.
• Coordinate with operations to meet availability targets.
• Supervise external contractors and repair providers.
• Investigate failures and implement corrective actions.
• Lead continuous improvement across maintenance operations.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Deliver training and mentoring to workshop staff.
